Meet Laurie at Gifts and Talents

I met Laurie through Etsy when I was looking for a fun baby shower favor to include in a goodie bag with a vintage, shabby chic look. She instantly ran with my ideas, vague as they were, and came up with darling clips - personalized and everything! She also did custom clipboards for my daughters teachers at Christmas. She's so great to work with... check her out!

1) What is your craft and what led to you to take it up?

ART,ART,ART... I love doing any kind of art, from drawing, painting, jewelry and my most favorite love is decoupage. I am always thinking of ways to take normal every day things and make them into art.

2) What part of your work do you enjoy the most?

Custom Orders and Decoupage. I Love it when customers describe in a convo what they have in mind and making it a reality for them.

3) What part of your work is the hardest?

Packing after Friday, Saturday and Sunday Sales!

4) A top ten list of your favorites

...handmade possession...

A stained glass window that has a crack in one of the pieces of glass, strange, huh?

...item in your shop...

It's not currently in my shop, but in my sold Items, the Owl Clothespin Clips.

...item in your favorites list...

I have so many favorites, it is hard to pin point just one. There are oh so many Talented Artists here on Etsy!

"Retro Bird Feed" by BrodyandMa

...Etsy purchase...

Do trades Count? I love the journal (that I gave to my Mom) that I traded with yours truly - WhimsyHouse.

...Etsy shop...

MixedMediaBySRC (she's my Mom)!

"Gorgeous Teal Pendant" by MixedMediabySRC

...blog or website...

I have other sites, but I really focus all of my energy on my Etsy shop,
http://GiftsAndTalents.etsy.com.

...source of inspiration...

Everyday things I see, then my imagination takes over. Like most artist, I can already see the finished product before I start.

...item you've sold...

Decoupaged Recipe Boxes, Clothespin Clips and Switch Plate Covers

...piece of advice...

I was once told by a customer to never under-value my art, and that I wasn't charging enough for shipping. She was right about both!

...rule to break...

I don't do my decoupage in the traditional way.

And the WINNER is...

... DivaQueenie from Duluth, Minnesota!

She chose a red rose brooch for her new black coat.
A good choice since she'll be wearing it for a few more months...
Minnesota likes to hold on to winter!
Enjoy, Shellie!
Thank you to all who entered. Be on the lookout for future giveaways and promotions. Would love to have you "follow" the blog... you'll be the first to know when another goodie is up for grabs!
I love to give gifts!
